Kim Bong Carpentry Village
Kim Bong Carpentry Village is situated in the north of Vietnam and has developed since the 16th century. This village is a special place where carpenters have worked to produce furniture and other items for remarkable buildings in Hanoi, Hue royal tombs and citadels, and other projects in Hoi An’s period of prosperity. Nowadays, the trip designed for tourists to Kim Bong village will let them explore the great things of its history and see carpenters working skillfully and professionally. Here, it’s not hard to find crafted wooden doors and religious statues in the souvenirs shop; there are coasters with a few dollars and large religious statues with thousands of dollars. The most renowned shop here is run by Ms. Huynh Ri; it’s the place where ships are created by utilizing traditional techniques.
Thanh Ha Pottery Village
Thanh Ha pottery village – among traditional handicraft villages – is situated in Thanh Ha ward of Quang Nam province; there are many reasons to visit this spot, and one of them is that it carries a valuable historical legacy – pottery, a significant and traditional career of locals. It’s amazing to know that craftsmen of the village excellently worked to provide perfect articles for the palace during the period of Nguyen Dynasty in Hue. Nowadays pottery items have been exported to other countries in the world; some of them include pots, jars, cups, and bowls.
Start 8:30 am / 2:00pm: A local guide and car will pick you up and transfer you to Bach Dang quay. Here, board the boat and head up Thu Bon River to Thanh Ha pottery village where almost half of the villagers still retain their ancestor’s craft skills of creating pots, dishes, jars and other ornaments. Then the boat will transport you down the river to the other side to visit Kim Bong village .It is here the artisans hugely contributed to building ancient wooden houses in Hoi An in the 18th century as well as charming wooden furniture and décor. In this vicinity you will stroll to a family that produces rice wine. You will then continue down the river to Tra Nhieu, a beautiful quaint fishing village at the mouth of Cam Kim Island. Here, take a walk deep into the village and visit a family to learn about mat making. A return walk back to the boat dock and a cruise to Hoi An will complete your trip.
